Another very interesting vintage computer blog ... not very frequently updated, but good entries !

I found surprisingly two other vintage computer blogs,
one from Howard Harte at http://hartetechnologies.com/Happenings/nfblog/
(with less entries for the present but many for 2007),
and a bigger one at http://www.bytecellar.com/,
with a bigger number of Apple II related entries.

Howard Harte describes the root (history) of CP/M and that was really interesting:

You can also found some very interesting software pieces at
http://www.unix4fun.org/z80pack/
just look for "Bootable disk images with older Digital Research CP/M versions"
on that mentioned page from Udo Munk.

Cracking an Osborne 1 into parts - interesting pictures

Very interesting pictures can be found at TechRepublic - they split an Osborne 1 part by part, hopefully they assembled it back to a working unit...

http://techrepublic.com.com/2346-13636_11-193055.html

As far as I know, that's an older one, not the newer model with less rounded case corners.
The detailed pictures from the Double Density are also amazing, because later computer models didn't need such extra logic due to more intelligent microcontroller like the upd765.

How to transfer Apple Disk Images from a modern PC to an Apple II (with a super serial card)

Indeed I didn't think about it yet. But it is not too difficult.
Getting an image from Asimov's site at ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/images/
Reading all infos at http://adtpro.sourceforge.net/
Transferring the image back to a real Apple ][.
Have fun.

Have to do it with "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
Grab it at ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/images/games/adventure/The%20Hitchhikers%20Guide%20to%20the%20Galaxy.dsk
If the game is too difficult (you have to find the right words also), take a look into ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/images/games/adventure/HitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy.txt
(Caution: Spoiler!)

To take a look into these disk images, just use Ciderpress
http://ciderpress.sourceforge.net/

Another rare CP/M portable from Televideo...

Had time to search for several topics, and suddenly I found a hint about a not so well known CP/M 2.2 portable computer (less famous):

A Televideo TPC-I, not really portable (with a similar weight as the Osborne 1) but still an "all-in-one" CP/M machine.

More infos at http://home.total.net/~hrothgar/museum/TPC1/index.html

I have to collect more data about it, because there was surprisingly also a GSX-80 implementation available for this computer (this is rare).

Also, I thought about, to add info pages not only for the Televideo above, but also for the Epson PX-8 (because it was also a CP/M portable).

The pages about the Z-80 Video Pak from "Data 20 Corporation" for the C64 was also very interesting, because I collected many infos about CP/M 2.2 for the C64 already, but missed this "pearl" (but the cartridge seems to be very rare).

Such a cute portable ... and unreachable still (to rare, to expensive...)

Still dreaming of a Otrona Attache portable CP/M computer, it's very handy (for 1982) and despite of this is still a full featured machine.
This picture shows another model with different floppy disk drives compared to the one I already have shown at http://www.z80.eu/otrona.html ...
I have seen a few in Ebay shops in the US, but they are really expensive (up to $ 400) and this is not what I looked for unfortunately.
But still, it's amazing to see such one and dream ...
